Digital voice: who is talking
See who calls whom on digital voice channels. The app never plays the voice.

What it does #
On digital voice channels the app reads from the radio signal who is calling whom: the talkgroup or callsign, and the name the radio sends. It never plays the voice.
It is on by default. It needs no internet and no website.
Where to find it #
- Switch: Settings > Receiver, the card Digital voice: who is talking.
- Home: in NFM, a small Who is talking button appears once there is a call or a digital signal. A tap opens the list. The band line also shows the system and the caller.
- Scan: a channel on a digital voice system shows a badge with its name.
Controls #
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Call list | A row per call: the start time, the system, the call, the talker name, and its length ("talking" while it is on). Emergency and encrypted calls are shown in red. |
| Call history | The calls heard before. |
| Clear | Clears the list. |
| Mute the buzz (digital voice) | In Receiver audio filters: quiets the buzzing sound of these signals. |
| Digital voice decoder output | In Settings > Receiver: sends the raw NFM signal to a decoder app of your own on the phone (TCP 127.0.0.1, port 7355, 48 kHz, 16-bit mono). |
Before a caller is known, the list says "Digital signal detected. Waiting for caller information."
Limits #
- The app does not decode the voice into speech and does not record or transcribe it.
- The caller details appear only when the radio sends them.
